First Aid Courses

QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF) (5 Days)

This qualification is to benefit Learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency situations. The purpose of this qualification is to prepare Learners to be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective prehospital care in situations which can arise when providing emergency treatment and/or management.

Level 3 First Aid at Work (RQF) (3 Days)

This qualification assists employers to meet the first aid requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regs 1981, particularly in higher risk workplaces. It is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of a first aider in the workplace, as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) (1 Day)

This qualification is the choice of many employers to ensure they are meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations. As outlined, Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982. It is ideal for those employers that need to meet the minimum requirement of first aid regulations; typically, those working in shops, offices and other low risk environments.

Level 3 Activity First Aid (RQF) (2 Days)

This qualification is aimed at those looking to undertake the role of a first aider in sports activities. The qualification also meets the requirements for a workplace emergency first aider as outlined in the Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Level 3 Award for Administration of Emergency Medical Gases (RQF) (1 Day)

This qualification is aimed at those working in health care settings who are required to administer Oxygen and Entonox ® as part of their role. This includes, but is not limited to prehospital care providers. This is not a licence to practice qualification and employers should ensure they have full and rigorous Clinical Governance in place to be able to allow employees to administer medical gasses.

MSFL Paediatric First Aid (12 Hours)

This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Local Authority Approved and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School Staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course.

MSFL Paediatric First Aid Blended (12 Hours)

This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Local Authority Approved and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School Staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course. 6 hours of the course is classroom based and 6 hours is completed on line.

These courses are either run as 1 full day or 2 x 3 hour sessions over two evenings.

MSFL Level 1 Award in Basic First Aid (3 Hours)

This course aims to provide the learner with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to enable him/her to attend a conscious or unconscious casualty, ensuring that appropriate care is given until the emergency medical services arrive and takeover, or until an alternative or more qualified First Aider and or a Health Care Professional, assumes responsibility for the casualty.

IOSH Managing Safely (4 Days)

Level 3 Health & Safety in the Workplace (3 Days)

This qualification provides a thorough understanding of health and safety emphasising the importance of monitoring staff and controls. It also details the need for a structured management approach to health and safety and the key factors in implementing health and safety policy. Accidents and illness can result in disability, death or incapacity for work. The supervisor is in an ideal position to influence, monitor and train employees. They can also ensure that managers are informed, persuaded, encouraged or pressured into providing better health and safety standards.

Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace (RQF) (1 Day)

This qualification is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own safety and the safety of customers, contractors and the public. This qualification can be tailored to business and individual needs to make the learning experience relevant and fit for purpose. Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Nevertheless, employees also have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the basics of health and safety, as well as specific training for individual tasks.

MSFL Ltd Risk Assessments (3 Hours)

The course will benefit anyone in a work environment. Although not all employees will be expected to undertake risk assessments personally, they may be asked to contribute to the process and will always be expected to act in such a way that protects the health and safety of themselves and others. This course provides candidates with a sound understanding of the risk assessment process. It advises them of the legal requirement for risk assessment, helps them to identify workplace hazards and suggest effective control measures, and looks at review and record keeping.

MSFL Ltd Manual Handling (3 Hours)

This course is aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, it introduces candidates to the risks of manual handling and the controls available. This course will benefit anyone who has to carry out manual handling activities at work by introducing them to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and the control measures available to help prevent injury. Candidates will be able to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the development of safer working practices in cooperation with their supervisors and managers. This qualification is not intended to train candidates to carry out manual handling risk assessments, but it will help them to understand and contribute to the development of such assessments.

Aquatic Courses

Emergency Response Swimming Pool (ER-SP) (2 Days)

Paragraph 193 of the HSE publication “Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools” states – Whenever the pool is in use, a member of staff will need to be designated as “on call” to respond immediately to the alarm and deal with any emergency. It is essential that such staff are trained in pool rescue, CPR techniques and first aid. The Emergency Response Pool qualification is designed to assist operators to meet these requirements. The Emergency Response Programme is also designed to train ancillary staff to back up and support the lifeguard team (if available) and staff to respond to an emergency. To comply with the HSE publication ‘Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools’, pool operators are strongly recommended to refer to figure 3 on page 66, to determine if continuous or occasional poolside supervision is required.

RLSS NPLQ Trainer Assessor Course (Core and Specialised Units) (5 Days)

This course aims to provide learners with the ability, once passed, to deliver RLSS courses, these can include NPLQ, First Aid, AED, and other Lifesaving Aquatic Awards through the RLSS. The qualification also allows successful learners to deliver staff training. If successful on the course you will leave as a Probationary RLSS UK Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessor. The probationary period is a maximum of two years from course completion. You will then be allocated a National Trainer Assessor or a Mentor.

Fire Courses

MSFL Ltd Award in Fire Safety and Fire Marshal (3 Hours)

Fire and Smoke does kill, it also devastates property both in the workplace and at home. With about 700 people killed and over 100,000 being injured in the UK per year (house and place of work) this can cost industry and society over £1,500 million in insurance claims. Employers and Employees need to know their legal obligation with regards to the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) (Fire Safety 2005). The RRO places the responsibility for fire safety on the employer or “Responsible Person” for the premises. You must also appoint one or more competent persons, depending on the size and use of your premises, to assist in undertaking any of the preventive and protective measures required by the Order1 (you can nominate yourself for this purpose). A competent person is someone with enough training and experience or knowledge and other qualities to be able to implement these measures properly.

Train the Trainer Courses

Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) (5 Days)

These qualifications are for those who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, including those who are not in a teaching role, or who have just started a teaching role, and include Award-size qualifications for those who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices.
