

Civil War Re-enactment - Any Grade
A fabulous event re-enacting Chippenham civil war with a medieval village with blacksmiths, fire, lathes and lots of dangerous activities. There is also the battle itself which includes horses, cannons, archers and spears. Medics will be based in 2 locations and will also be mobile.

About the event
Chippenham will be transported back into the English Civil War, as the Town welcomes the English Civil War Society for a spectacular weekend of living history. Between 11am and 5pm, Island Park and Monkton Park will be transformed to recreate the dramatic summer of 1643, when the conflict swept across Wiltshire and the West Country.
A large, atmospheric encampment and tented village will be set up on Island Park, where 17th-century trades and crafts will be demonstrated throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to see traditional skills in action, meet townsfolk from the period, and even collect freshly printed newssheets hot off a working 17th-century press. Re-enactors will be on hand to share stories, explain their roles, and talk about Chippenham’s place in the English Civil War.
