This course can be held at our address or your chosen location. Fire and Smoke does kill, it also devastates property both in the workplace and at home. With about 700 people killed and over 100,000 being injured in the UK per year (house and place of work) this can cost industry and society over £1,500 million in insurance claims. Employers and Employees need to know their legal obligation with regards to the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) (Fire Safety 2005). The RRO places the responsibility for fire safety on the employer or “Responsible Person” for the premises. You must also appoint one or more competent persons, depending on the size and use of your premises, to assist in undertaking any of the preventive and protective measures required by the Order1 (you can nominate yourself for this purpose). A competent person is someone with enough training and experience or knowledge and other qualities to be able to implement these measures properly.
